SAN ANTONIO -- A new program at the San Antonio Public Library allows you to have the library with you all the time.
"It is one of the unknown resources the library has available," said the library's Andrew Gordon.
Thanks to the digital company Overdrive, you can now access the library from your home or office -- virtually anywhere in the world.
"We are out there everywhere you go, everywhere in the world," Gordon said.
"To use the service you need a home computer with Internet access and a free library card for the San Antonio Library," said Overdrive Digital Media Service's Jamie Kelly.
To access the program, go to the download section on the library Web site, search for the title you want, download it and then transfer it to your portable device.
"On the Web site you can go to 'advance search' (and) put in a particular author you're looking for," Kelly said. "You can also search by format, language (or) publishers."
More than 5,000 titles are available in eBooks, audiobooks, music and videos.
After the lending period is over, it will expire off your computer and check itself back in, so you never have any late fees and you won't have to worry about bringing it back.
