SAN ANTONIO -- A 16-year-old Marshall High School student has been arrested and suspended from school for what school officials said was a foiled shooting plot at the campus.
Northside Independent School District spokesman Pascual Gonzalez said that San Antonio police found out about the alleged threat from Canadian law enforcement authorities. The boy was playing the video game Modern Warfare 2 on his Xbox game console online when he told a man that he planned to shoot a pregnant girl and his best friend.
"Apparently, this player from Canada was very alarmed about what this boy was posting online," Gonzalez said.
After police in British Columbia contacted San Antonio police, officers went to the campus Feb. 8 but didn't find anything to make them believe he was serious about the threats.
The boy was charged with making a false alarm or report, a state felony.
"This is a very, very serious allegation," Gonzalez said. "You don't make these kinds of threats."
Gonzalez said that the incident will be posted on the
school's Web site Monday. A letter will be sent home with parents Tuesday.
