Testimony Ends In Killer's Sentencing Trial
Charles Reese Convicted Of Shooting New Bride To Death

SAN ANTONIO -- Exactly a year after 26-year-old Charles Reese killed 18-year-old Shanika Sanford, testimony in the punishment phase of Reese's trial ended. The couple had been married for just two weeks when Reese shot Sanford to death.
On Wednesday, prosecutors produced a long list of Reese's past criminal activity. It included drug, assault and robbery cases.
On March 10, 2009, Reese shot Sanford to death in the parking lot of a Northside apartment complex Witnesses testified that they heard the couple arguing. They said that when Sanford refused Reese's orders to get into a car, he pulled a gun and shot her six times at point blank range.
Closing arguments in the punishment phase of the trial are set for Thursday morning in Judge Lori Valenzuela's 437th District Court.
Reese faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
