SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police said they have solved a string of convenience store robberies.
All four robberies happened at Valero stores within a two-day period last December, and police believed at the time that the same suspect was to blame.
They released surveillance video, showing the gunman in action, which aired on local TV news channels, including KSAT 12.
In it, a distinctive scar can be seen on the side of the robber's face.
On Wednesday, police arrested Juan Trevino Jr., whose mug shot shows a similar facial scar.
A police spokesman said an anonymous tip last month led them to him, and witnesses later identified Trevino in a photo lineup.
So far, he is charged with only two of the robberies -— one in the 2000 block of McCullough Avenue and the other in the 1100 block of San Pedro Avenue.
The spokesman said their investigation is continuing and there could be more charges to come.
Trevino lives with his parents less than five minutes away from both stores.
"I'm surprised about that," said Juan Trevino Sr., the man's father, in response to the arrest. "He's a good kid. (He) never gave me no trouble, no problems."
The elder Trevino said as far as he knows, his son had no reason to rob anyone. However, he admitted the teen had no steady income.
"He was working for a few days or a few weeks," Trevino said.
But robbery investigators said they're pretty sure the crime spree was the work of Trevino, and that with his arrest, they've put him out of business.
