A Wednesday night meth lab bust in West Bexar County landed a man behind bars and a deputy in the hospital.

Narcotics deputies arrested 47-year-old Charles Jones, who is accused of operating a meth lab, late Wednesday night, a Sheriff's Office statement read.

Bexar County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call to check on the welfare of someone at a mobile home in the 7500 block of Talley Road, where they found the makings of a meth lab and what appeared to be chemicals inside one of the rooms.

A hazmat team was called out to clear out the chemicals and decontaminate the area, along with three deputies who came into contact with the chemicals.

One of the deputies was taken to an area hospital as a precaution and some neighbors were evacuated

Jones was charged with possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance.
