SAN ANTONIO -- Long lines almost seem to be part of the spring break fun for people who are spending their week off visiting San Antonio's attractions.
Visitors to Six Flags Fiesta Texas sat in traffic for hours Wednesday, just waiting to enter the amusement park's parking lot.
There also have been record-breaking crowds this week at the San Antonio Zoo and Witte Museum, among others.
The zoo welcomed 17,717 visitors on Wednesday, and on Tuesday, the Witte opened its doors to 7,090 people.
"This is really more than we expected," said Jim Dalglish, the museum's vice president of communications. "I guess it's just the combination of great weather and spring break. Maybe people are getting better attitudes about the economy."
It could also be people's love of dinosaurs that has so many visiting the Witte.
Currently on display is an exhibit called "Dinosaurs: Unearthed." It features life-sized, animated dinosaurs.
"They're really cool," said J.C. Glowka during a visit to the museum with his aunt and younger brother.
For some, the roaring, moving creatures are just a bit intimidating. Rachel Porter, 5, hid her eyes as her mother tried to reassure her that the lifelike prehistoric monsters weren't real.
"She doesn't like the ones that make noise," Becky Porter explained.
Still, getting that close up to the big creatures is something many people decided not to pass up.
And while real dinosaurs may be extinct, Dalglish said with their popularity, the animated variety will be around at the Witte for some time to come.
"Dinosaurs: Unearthed" is scheduled to run through Sept. 6, 2010.
