HELOTES, Texas -- It was a party atmosphere at Floore Country Store Thursday as graduates from the UT Health Science Center's San Antonio School of Medicine learned where they will be spending the next 3 to 7 years.
It is called Match Day, the day when graduates learn where they will do their residency in their chosen area of medicine.
And while they celebrated, many wondered about the impact of health care reform on their future.
"This is the one year where we've kind of been able to get out of studying and listen to what’s going on," said class president Payal Patal.
Assistant Dean Nanette Clare added, "One of the discussions recently is about the number of students that go into primary care, because there is a large need for that."
She said 45 percent of the class of 210 students will be going into primary care fields.
