The off and on closure of 281 is over as crews finished repair work ahead of schedule Saturday afternoon.
The work on a damaged beam on 281 wrapped up sooner than expected, opening up both the northbound and southbound lanes of 281 between Donella Drive and Loop 1604.
Initially, the lanes were expected to be closed until 5 a.m. Monday while crews removed that beam damaged August 14 when a gravel truck slammed into the Henderson Pass bridge.
Crews started work Friday night, but they finished a lot earlier than anticipated.
Just before 4 p.m. Saturday 281 southbound opened.
The northbound lane opened up shortly after that.
Crews said the beam will not be replaced since the bridge is used only for utility access.
