Good Samaritans hit by 18-wheeler south of Schwab Road
A wrong-way driver caused a triple-fatal accident in Schertz early Monday morning.
Investigators say the initial crash involved an SUV with a family and the wrong-way driver onĀ I-35 North just south of Schwab Road.
Officials say several Good Samaritans stopped to help including a tour bus driver from Mexico, a Houston fire captain and an attendant from a nearby rest stop.
According to officials, an 18-wheeler drove around the initial wreck and struck the bus driver, rest stop attendant and the wrong-way driver. All three died at the scene.
The fire captain not hurt but his car was hit. The family in the SUV survived because they were trapped from the initial crash. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution, officials said.
The accident was first reported at 3 a.m. The interstate was closed for several hours and was reopened at around 8 a.m.
