SAN ANTONIO -

Robert Moreno, 22, was shot and killed around 4:30 a.m. Saturday at a home on the 100 block of Josephine Tobin, just steps away from the popular walking and running trail around Woodlawn Lake.

Police say three men knocked on the home’s front door saying they needed a tow truck.

When Moreno opened the door, the men demanded money and began arguing with Moreno.

Moreno was shot once in the forehead and died the next day at University Hospital.

“They took my baby, my blood, my life,” said Florinda Trejo, Moreno’s mother.

“I look at my phone and I want to call him. And I know one day I will have to delete him from my contacts,” she said in tears, “but I don’t know how I’m going to do that. I don’t know."

Trejo says her son was a criminal justice student at San Antonio College. He was putting himself through school by buying and selling cars on Craigslist.

“He was very trusting of people and unfortunately he had large amounts of cash at any time,” Trejo said.

As she grieves, Trejo is begging that anyone who might know something about her son’s murder share that information with police.

Or perhaps for his killer to have a change of heart.

"I hope the image of what they did to my son is enough to keep them up at night and that’s enough to make them come forward,” she said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. You can call 210-224-STOP to share tips anonymously or text “Tip 127” followed with the information to CRIMES (274637).
