Reward Increased In Missing Case Of 12-Year-Old Girl
$50K Reward Offered By FBI
The reward is in addition to a $5,000 reward Crime Stoppers is offering in the case of Rosa Sandoval (pictured, left), who was last seen walking to Sky Harbor Elementary on May 30.FBI Agent-In-Charge Pat Patterson, of San Antonio, said the $50,000 is routine in missing person cases, but he hopes the money will go a long way in finding out what happened to Sandoval."We're talking about a very narrow window of time in that neighborhood, so someone needs to come forward," Patterson said at a news conference Tuesday. "Someone may come forward who may be shy or bashful or afraid."
Law enforcement authorities also displayed the exact clothing (pictured, right) Sandoval was wearing when she was missing in hopes the clothing will trigger someone's memory.Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Powers of the San Antonio Police Department said 30 detectives interviewed more than 200 people, taken more than 40 statements and received consent to search in more than 80 locations. Powers also said they've contacted 48 registered sex offenders living in the general area of the school. He added that police want to hear from parents in San Antonio whose children, like Sandoval, were running late for school and who may have been approached by strangers.Although authorities still haven't confirmed whether Sandoval was abducted, Patterson said logic tells him the girl was kidnapped.Copyright 2005 by KSAT.com All rights reserved.
