SAN ANTONIO -- Castle Hills police were called out Monday night to break up a disturbance in a Northwest Side parking lot during the Gucci Bowl pizza-eating contest.
Things got out of hand shortly after Churchill High School cheerleaders were named the winner of this year's competition, which kicks off festivities for the Gucci Bowl football game between Churchill and Clark high schools.
While the celebration was going on, food and cups started flying across a table and words were exchanged. At one point, an unidentified student climbed on the table and that's when employees from Double Dave's Pizza had to help quiet things down.
Not long after that, more words were exchanged in the parking lot and one man had to be forcefully detained by police officers. He was later released.
Despite the incident, the owner of the pizza parlor said he would hold the event again, but with tighter security.
