Jury Awards $6M In Quarry Market Fatal Shooting
POSTED: Friday, September 3, 2004
SAN ANTONIO -- A Bexar County jury awarded $6 million Thursday to the wife of a man who was fatally wounded in front of the Quarry Movie Theater.
Carol Furman sued the shopping center for not providing enough protection on its premises when her husband, Luis Gutierrez, was shot to death in the Quarry Market parking lot in February 2002.
At the time, Gutierrez was providing police information on a string of store burglaries.
Police said the shooting death was in retaliation to Gutierrez's role in the investigation.
There is no word whether the owners of the Quarry Market plan to appeal the jury award.
