SAN ANTONIO -- Police are looking for two teenage boys Wednesday after they were seen dragging a body at a near North Side apartment complex.
The victim was identified as Meda Childress, 47. She is believed to be the mother of one of the boys police are seeking. The other boy is a next door neighbor.
"It appears at this point that she may be the victim of murder," said San Antonio police spokesman Gabe Trevino. Childress was covered with bruises, Trevino said. Spots of blood were found around a swimming pool and walkways.
A witness told police he saw two boys dragging a body down a stairwell at La Bella Apartments in the 100 block of Club Street at 7:30 a.m.
When the witness asked the boys what had happened to the woman, they told him she had fallen in a bathtub. They then fled.
"When they saw him, they dropped her feet and took off running," Trevino said.
The boys are believed to be high school students. One of them was recently suspended from Jefferson High School, police said.
