A police chase that started on the northwest side of San Antonio ended with the arrests of four men, who police said were working together to steal cars.
Police said an off-duty officer spotted a pick-up truck near Prue Road Sunday night that matched the description of a stolen vehicle, and a second pick-up that appeared to be following the stolen truck.
The officer followed both vehicles, and observed the suspects off-loading items from the stolen vehicle into the second truck.
The officer continued to follow the vehicles and called in backup, police said, starting a brief chase.
Officers tracked the second vehicle to a home near Teresa Street and Bastrop Street and detained three men suspected of being involved in the chase.
Officers also arrested a fourth man on an outstanding warrant.
The stolen vehicle was eventually located near Dewitt Street and Fairmont Street, but the driver had run from the scene, police said.
In the second vehicle, police found several stolen items and several thousand dollars of cash, a sergeant at the scene said.
The three men face theft charges, police said.
Police say one of the men arrested just arrived in San Antonio from Del Rio.
Investigators will look into any connections to illegal activity on the border.
