SAN ANTONIO -

A driver slammed into the back of an EMS ambulance sending four people to the hospital, including himself.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday near Callaghan and Fredericksburg Rd.

Police say the man driving a pick-up crashed into the back of the ambulance waiting at a stop light.

Witnesses say that man was looking down and not paying attention when he hit the EMS unit.

Firefighters had to cut the man from his pick-up.

Two EMS responders, a patient inside the ambulance, and the driver of the truck all went by EMS to University Hospital.

Police have not filed charges against the pick-up driver.
