Police arrested an 18-year-old man Friday afternoon in connection with a street-racing crash that killed three high school students and left one critically injured.

Killed in the crash were Adrian Oliva, 17; Raul Juan Hernandez III, 17 and Mark Quintero, 18. All were students at Navarro Academy in the San Antonio Independent School District.

A witness told police he saw the occupants of a green Volkswagen and another car "making signals to each other to ... race" near KellyUSA on General Hudnell Drive at 9:30 a.m.

The cars were headed north on General Hudnell when the Volkswagen lost control and crashed into a highway overpass concrete barrier underneath Frio City Road, police said. The other car left the scene but was later found at the school in the 200 block of West Travis.

The 18-year-old driver, also a Navarro Academy student, was arrested and faces felony drag-racing charges, police said.

The three teens died on impact. A passenger in the back seat was transported to Wilford Hall Medical Center in critical condition.

The victim were not believed to be wearing seat belts, police said.
