SAN ANTONIO -- The owner of an animal clinic in Kerrville was charged with attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child after he was arrested on suspicion of meeting with a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl for sex.
Jonathan Ward Brooke, 52, was arrested in the parking lot of a Jack In The Box restaurant in Buda after meeting with an undercover investigator with the Texas Attorney General's Office Cyber Crimes Unit.
Brooke had allegedly been communicating with the investigator through the Internet.
"This arrest emphasizes, once again, how important it is for us to remain vigilant in protecting Texas children from those who want to harm them," Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said in a news release. "Child predators who are using the Internet to solicit sex from minors need to realize they can no longer hide behind a computer."
Brooke, who is married and has three children, was released from jail after posting $175,000 bond.
The Cyber Crimes Unit has made 61 arrests since its inception in 2003.
