SAN ANTONIO -

Edgar Jimenez and his four cousins are recovering from a frightening ordeal in their Northwest Side home -- a middle-of-the-night robbery.

San Antonio police were called to the home on Gardina Street, off Vance Jackson Road, around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Jimenez said he and his cousins were all asleep when three men with guns woke them up and began beating them with the weapons.

A fourth man stood watch outside the home, he said.

The immigrant from Guatemala, who speaks no English, said he quickly understood what was happening: that they were being robbed.

He described the attack as “fierce,” saying he was beaten with a gun and left with a busted lip.

One of his cousins was hit in the head and left too frightened to speak about the incident later.

Jimenez said the robbers took cash, cell phones, his cousin’s Nissan X-Terra, and two window fans.

The four criminals, he said, all had their faces covered, making it difficult for him to see what they looked like.

Jimenez said at some point after the robbers left, he was able to untie himself and go to a corner store to call for help.
