5-year-old girl on life-support after shooting on East Side

Adult man also shot in 800 block of Pecan Valley Drive

SAN ANTONIO – Two people including a 5-year-old girl are on life-support Thursday morning following a shooting at a home on the city's East Side, San Antonio police said.

The shooting was reported just before midnight in the 800 block of Pecan Valley Drive.

Police said they believe the incident began when two men backed their car into another vehicle parked in a driveway. The two men argued with the homeowner police said, before showing off their guns and firing multiple times, hitting both the man and the home.

A 5-year-old girl was sleeping inside a front room when one of the rounds hit her in the head, police said.

Following the shooting one of the suspects broke out the front window and crawled into the house, unlocking the front door, before fleeing the scene, police said.

Roughly an hour later an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description and a short chase began. The chase ended in the 4000 block of Briarglen when the suspects crashed and fled on foot.

Police said one suspect was caught shortly thereafter after fleeing and another was found within an hour by an assisting K-9 unit.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
