BULVERDE, Texas -- A casino was busted in a house in Bulverde over the weekend.
A tip led Bulverde police early Saturday to a house around the corner from a police station.
"There's not much that can happen in Bulverde without somebody finding out," said Chief Royce Goodson, Bulverde Police Department.
John Edward Clark, 44; Terry Dale Buffington, 40; and Leia Margerum, 27, were arrested and charged with organized crime. They each face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty at trial.
Police said Clark was the person who greeted and invited in plainsclothes law enforcement authorities to play and win cash.
Once inside, the new customers identified themselves as police officers.
The casino had been in business less than a week, police said.
The landlord told police he thought they were setting up a legitimate roofing business.
"There are a lot of things we want in this city, but a gambling house is just not one of them," said Bulverde Mayor Sarah Stevick
