Eight people are dead following a shooting attack on a bar in the city of Monterrey, in the northern Mexico border state of Nuevo Leon.
State security spokesman Jorge Domene says four died at the scene and four others died of their wounds at local hospitals. Another four are being treated for wounds suffered in the shooting.
Domene said Tuesday that the attack occurred late Monday at the Matehuala bar, and that some victims were bar employees.
The attackers fled the scene, and authorities are investigating possible motives in the attack.
Monterrey has been the scene of bloody turf battles between the Zetas gang and the Gulf drug cartel.
