SAN ANTONIO -- A New Braunfels man who is of Middle Eastern descent said that he was kicked off a flight Tuesday night in San Antonio, KSAT 12 News reported in an exclusive report.
Asharaf Kahn, a Pakistani-American, said that he was sitting in first class on Delta Flight 1469 bound for Dallas Fort-Worth, when the plane's captain approached him and asked him to step off the plane.
"Then he told me 'Mr. Kahn, I want you to pick up your luggage inside the plane and I don't want you to fly with me on this flight,'" Kahn told KSAT 12 News. "'Me and my crew make a decision that we're not secure flying with you.'"
Kahn, who was headed to his native country in Pakistan for his brother's wedding, said that he refused to argue with the pilot, fearing that he might be arrested.
"I feel so embarrased and I feel so down," said Kahn.
Muhammed Choudry, the president of the Islamic Center of San Antonio, said that the FBI is investigating the incident, which he called ethnic discrimination and retaliatory for the terrorist bombings last week in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Kahn, a frequent flyer with Delta, refused to take a flight scheduled for Wednesday because it would put him in Pakistan 36 hours too late.
Delta Airlines spokeswoman Katie Connell said that they are investigating the incident carefully.
"We were unaware of the incident. We take this matter very seriously and will look into it. We will report back when we know more," Connell said.
