SAN ANTONIO -- Animal Care Services is considering no longer responding to calls involving wild animals.
Currently, residents can trap a wild animal, like a raccoon or a possum, and have Animal Control pick up the animal and transferring it back to wildlife.
Lyn Cuny of Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation said that the new policy would allow the city to concentrate on what she calls the real problem -- stray domestic animals.
"Animal Control is killing anywhere from 150 to 200 dogs and cats every day," Cuny said. "Most of those are perfectly healthy animals who simply need a home. That's got to stop. We want them to focus on stopping that."
There was no word on when a decision would be made on the policy.
