ATM suspect nabbed thanks to custom truck
SAPD: Nathan Davenport's customized truck helped them make arrest
A suspected ATM thief did himself no favors by using a customized truck to commit his crime, police said Monday.
San Antonio police said Nathan Davenport robbed a Security Service ATM on Oct. 26, using his truck to pull the cash box out of the machine.
He initially made off with more than $76,000, according to police, who used security camera video during their investigation.
"The video showed a dually rear axle on the truck, along with several other off-roading features," said San Antonio police Officer Matt Porter.
Detectives then asked around at several off-roading shops in the area, according to the affidavit, and were led to North Star Dodge.
Davenport had dropped off his truck there for service the day after the burglary, the affidavit said, after apparently being damaged during the crime.
Davenport was arrested on a theft of ATM charge, and is a suspect in several other similar crimes since August.
