GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a backhoe accident at a Southeast Texas shipyard has left a worker dead.
Authorities say 40-year-old James Mays of Channelview died in the accident Monday afternoon at a Galveston shipyard.
Officials say Mays was operating a backhoe from outside the cab when he became pinned by the boom.
The Galveston County Daily News reports Mays was a contract employee working at Southwest Shipyard. The crew was digging a hole on a project at the time of the accident.
