Police responding to an accidental shooting call late Tuesday came upon a stash of illicit material officials said came as a surprise.
Police investigators said Kevin Rowe accidentally shot himself in his Northeast side home, prompting someone in the house to call 911.
Rowe tried to stop the person from making the call, but couldn't. He fled to a nearby fire station, where he was met by an ambulance.
Police still responded to Rowe's home, however, and were granted permission to search the dwelling.
They found meth, items used to make meth, and marijuana, investigators said.
They also found checks, items used to make checks, fake IDs, and an illegal weapon.
That discovery prompted the Secret Service and ATF to lend agents to the investigation.
It's not yet known what charges Rowe will face.
He has a lengthy rap sheet, including an identification tampering charge and multiple possession charges.
