The owner of an adult book store in Alabama is trading sex toys for guns this Valentine's Day.

Sherri Williams, owner of Pleasures, said she's hoping the "Guns for Toys" event will help down-on-their-luck lovers afford a gift for their special someone -- and get guns off the streets.

"This way, they can take something that's just lying around and swap it for something they can take home and make love, not war, with," she told Agence France-Presse.

Customers who opt for the firearms swap receive a gift card to spend at the shop, which stocks a variety of toys and other adult products.

"You never know, maybe there will be someone who says, 'I've got this gun that I could go rob a liquor store with, or maybe I can get me a blowup doll for Valentine's Day, instead," Williams told AFP.

Her husband, a gun dealer, will inspect the guns and hand over any associated with a crime to the local police.

The promotion ends Feb. 15.
