SAN ANTONIO -

A Northeast Side man identified as James Williams, 25, is facing charges after police said he answered a for sale ad on Craigslist about a cell phone and robbed the owner.

Williams faces charges in connection with the Aug. 13 armed robbery, although police said he is a suspect in at least one other case.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, a 26-year-old man called police last Monday, telling them he was robbed of his iPhone at gunpoint.

The man said he had run an ad on Craigslist, offering the phone for sale.

The affidavit stated that he told police he met with Williams and allowed him to hold the phone and examine it. But, he said, Williams jumped into the passenger’s seat of a car that began to drive away.

The victim told police, at one point, he and a friend managed to pull open the car door and pull Williams out. He said that’s when Williams pulled out a gun and pointed it at him, demanding the phone, the affidavit stated.

Police arrested Williams Friday after a similar robbery at North Star Mall, the affidavit stated. They said they were then able to connect him to the earlier case.
