Senior citizen Albert Reichert, 68, is accused of pointing a gun at an off-duty San Antonio police officer after a near crash in a North Side parking lot.
According to the arrest affidavit, Officer Danny Martinez was in his private vehicle at the time of the near crash outside StoneWerks on E. Basse Road Nov. 20.
The affidavit stated that Martinez then pulled next to Reichert to ask if the 68-year- old was OK.
He said that’s when Reichert motioned, with a nod of his head, toward his hand which was holding a Zip gun, a type of homemade illegal weapon, the affidavit stated.
Martinez said he told Reichert he was pointing a gun at a police officer, but Reichert said he didn’t care.
Reichert then asked to see the officer’s badge, and sped away after Martinez showed it to him, the affidavit stated.
Investigators said they had several telephone conversations with Reichert since then in an attempt to obtain a statement from him.
However, he denied that the incident happened that way or that he even has a gun, the affidavit stated. Reichert was arrested Friday on a charge of deadly conduct.
