Americanos bus leaving San Antonio bursts into flames
Driver evacuates 18 passengers; no injuries reported
An Americanos bus heading from San Antonio to McAllen burst into flames on Monday.
The bus fire happened near Houston Street and Bowie under Interstate 37.
The driver noticed the bus was having transmission problems and called it in. He was heading back to the station when he saw the flames in his rear view mirror.
The driver quickly evacuated the 18 people on board.
“I was in the last row in the back. Luckily, I was able to grab my guitar and get out of there,” said Evan Dillon, a passenger on the bus.
The back quarter of the bus was damaged. No one was injured.
