Pet owners across the city having a difficult time feeding their pets are now getting some relief.

Animal Care Services has started a new program to assist  local pet owners struggling to feed their animals in these tough economic times.

The ACS Pet Pantry is opening its doors during regular business hours at the shelter.

The shelter is located at  at 4710 State Highway 151.

Pet owners looking to receive any help must show proof of government assistance, a current driver’s license or picture I.D. as well as proof of their pet’s sterilization status and current rabies vaccination.

Those who do not meet all qualifications will be handled on a case by case basis and all assistance will be given as donated food supplies are available. Donations of fresh dog and cat food are always welcome and can be made at anytime during regular business hours.

ACS is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays Noon to 4 p.m. for adoptions and donation drop off only.
