SAN ANTONIO -

A man was arrested after he was accused of shooting a woman who was trying to leave a northwest San Antonio home.

Police said around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the victim and the suspect got into an argument at a home in the 9600 block of Maidenstone Drive.

The woman attempted to leave and police said the suspect got a gun and shot her in the ankle. The victim managed to get to a neighbor's house to call police.

Officers arrived at the home, but the suspect refused to come out, police said.

Two other people were inside the home at the time, including the victim's son.

Officers got the suspect to come out about 20 minutes after arrival and took the man into custody.

The suspect faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, San Antonio police said.

The victim was taken to University Hospital and was expected to recover from the gunshot wound.
