One of five deputies serving a search warrant in far West Bexar County was shot twice Tuesday evening.

Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau said the deputies were looking to serve 7 felony warrants at a home on the 11000 block of Dublin Place when shots were fired.

Juan Daniel Gonzales, Jr., 35, a registered sex offender, was taken into custody.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office said the deputy, identified as 49-year-old Jose Esquivel, was talking on the way to the hospital.

Esquivel has been with BCSO for 28 years.
