SAN ANTONIO -

Gunshots rang out outside a bar north of downtown San Antonio early Monday morning.

Two suspects fired close to 16 shots behind Bar Central in the 400 block of W. Hildebrand near San Pedro around 2 a.m., San Antonio police said.

Officers said a fight inside the bar escalated and led to the shooting.

An officer was parked across the street to keep an eye on the bar, which police said has had problems with violence in the past, when he heard the shots.

He responded quickly and prevented anyone from fleeing the scene, San Antonio police said.

At least five people were taken in for questioning, and police believe the shooters were among the group taken into custody, investigators said.

San Antonio police have not said what charges would be filed. One person was grazed by a bullet and treated at the scene.
