Property taxes are due Thursday for people who live in Bexar County.
The Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office is extending its hours to help residents make their property tax payments on time. All four locations are open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The four offices will also offer curbside drop-off for people paying by check.
The downtown office will offer curbside drop-off from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The northeast, northwest and southside offices will offer the service from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
If payments are not made by Jan. 31, the amount owed automatically increases.
“Should you not be able to pay your taxes by Jan. 31, there is a 7 percent additional cost for penalty and interest,” said Albert Uresti, Bexar County tax assessor-collector.
If you cannot make the full payment by the deadline, Uresti suggests calling the tax office at 210-335-2251 to discuss options.
