The deadline to pay your 2011 Bexar County property taxes is Tuesday.
The main tax office at 233 North Pecos will open early at 7:30 a.m. and close at 6:45 p.m. to accommodate those who need to drop off their taxes. Two curbside drop-off locations will be available.
The tax assessor-collector substations will be open until 5:30 p.m.
Taxes can also be paid online with a credit card or e-check or by phone at 210-335-6585.
Payment submitted by mail must be postmarked by January 31.
Taxpayers who mail their payments on the due date should obtain proof of mailing, such as a certificate of mailing, certified or registered mail receipt to ensure an accurate postmark date.
Taxpayers unable to pay their taxes in full by Jan. 31 will be able to make payment arrangements beginning Feb. 1.
Payment arrangements allow property owners to pay their delinquent tax, penalty, and interest on a monthly basis and prevent the foreclosure of the tax lien when the terms of the arrangement are kept.
"I understand that many property owners are under financial strain at this time and I want to assist taxpayers to the extent that I am able," Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector Sylvia Romo said. "The best thing to do is come into the office and find out what can be done to reduce frustration or further costs."
