A driver involved in an accident on Loop 410 said he was brutally attacked Sunday after he accidentally collided with two motorcyclists.
Abelardo Oviedo said he was merging on to Loop 410 when he noticed a large group of motorcyclists. He was unable to let the group completely pass him and wound up in the middle of their caravan.
Oviedo said as he was driving the bikers surrounded his car and broke both of the front windows. Unable to slow down because of the cars behind him, he accidentally hit two motorcyclists that were riding in front of him.
“It’s how I entered on the highway,” Oviedo said. “There were people behind me so I couldn’t break.”
After the collision Oviedo drove to a nearby gas station, followed by a large group of bikers. Oviedo said about 20 men confronted him and began to punch and kick him.
“’You hit him on purpose’ he told me. I was like, ‘no I didn’t hit him’ and after that they just started hitting me and kicking me and everything. When they were done they grabbed a rock and started throwing it at my car breaking the rest of the windows.”
By the time officers arrived at the gas station, the bikers were gone, but another group of bikers from the caravan arrived at the gas station and told police the collision was intentional.
No arrests were made immediately following the incident, but police are searching for the attackers.
Oviedo suffered a minor laceration and bruises to his face and arms, and vehemently denied that he caused the collision on purpose.
“It was all just an accident.”
