U.S. Border Patrol agents saved the lives of 15 illegal immigrants on Saturday, according to a press release.
The Border Patrol's Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) team saved the lives of a man and a woman from Guatemala as well as a man from Mexico near Falfurrias, Texas.
Brooks County sheriff deputies notified agents about a 9-1-1 call regarding three illegal immigrants who were lost. The agents found the group and provided first aid to the woman, who was dehydrated. The other two did not require medical assistance, the Border Patrol release stated.
An additional 11 illegal immigrants, all from Mexico, were rescued from inside a tractor-trailer at the Falfurrias Checkpoint. The release stated the immigrants were rescued after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted agents to the trailer. During a second inspection, agents found the immigrants in a confined space they could not escape from.
Finally, the release stated agents rescued an illegal immigrant from Guatemala near Sullivan City, Texas, who was locked in the trunk of a car.
All of the immigrants rescued Saturday will be processed for return to their countries of origin.
