U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents confiscated more than $12 million worth of marijuana in the past three days.
In a seizure on Tuesday near La Casita, Texas, agents saw people loading bundles of the drug into a pickup truck. Once agents approached, the people ran across the border into Mexico, abandoning their nearly 1,900 pounds of marijuana.
Later that night near Garceno, Texas, agents saw a pickup truck approach the area they were patrolling and then make an abrupt U-turn. The truck headed back south and agents found the truck abandoned on the banks of the Rio Grande. Inside was 1,000 pounds of marijuana.
Other drug busts from Monday through Wednesday brought the total amount of marijuana seized to more than 15,200 pounds.
