Boxed chocolates make sweet Valentine's gift
Consumer Reports taste-tests gourmet chocolates
Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so it's time think about something for your sweetie.
It doesn't get much sweeter than a box of gourmet chocolates.
How do champagne truffles covered in rose petals sound?
Consumer Reports taste-tested 30 gift box chocolates.
The Vosges box with filling like wasabi and paprika rated excellent. It's $40. You can find Vosges gourmet treats at Whole Foods and Neiman Marcus.
The Woodhouse Assortment gift box rated even better. At $90 they are pricey, and you'll need to order online.
"This assortment has great pieces with amazing flavors like cinnamon toast and buttery pecan pie," said Consumer Reports' Erin Gudeaux.
They also found some more affordable chocolates that tasted delicious. The Ferrero Collection Fine Assorted Confections cost $11 and you can find them in drug stores.
See's Assorted chocolates also rated very good. They are sold at the See's store at North Star Mall and at many military exchanges.
