SAN ANTONIO -

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of a 5-year-old boy who was found dead on the South Side.

Josiah Williams was found dead Thursday inside a home in the 3900 block of Gayle. An autopsy was planned for Friday to determine a cause of death.

Police said someone inside the home called 911 just before 2 p.m.

When EMS crews got to the scene, the boy was not responsive. They tried to revive him, but he remained unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

San Antonio police Sgt. Javier Salazar said the boy's injuries appeared to be "very suspicious."

"It just seems there were more injuries in various stages of healing," Salazar said. "So it seems like there's more to this."

Brittany Kaiser, who lives down the street from the house, said she was saddened to hear the news.

"Knowing that a poor, innocent child has to go through this and they have no defense and knowing  it's just down the street from our house, I would never think this would happen," she said.

Salazar also said that the boy appeared to be very thin and that there were two other children in the house, but they appeared to be OK. No arrests had been made as of Friday morning.
