SAN ANTONIO -

The Bexar County medical examiner has identified a couple killed by a former business associate as Robert Snyder, 52, and Beatriz Snyder, 50.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said a preliminary investigation determined the suspect knocked on the door of the couple's house in the 15000 block of Spring Mist Wednesday evening and opened fire on Robert Snyder when he answered. The suspect then went to a back bedroom and fatally shot Beatriz Snyder, investigators said.

San Antonio police said the couple's 20-year-old daughter jumped out a window to get away.

Joy Strout, a neighbor, saw the girl crying uncontrollably. "She had heard gun shots and jumped out her window upstairs," said Strout. "So, all I did was just hold her and pray for her. That's all I needed to do."

A third business partner who was at the home at the time was able to fight the suspect off and take the gun, police said. The suspect fled but was caught by police at a nearby shopping center.

"They approached him, noticed that he did have blood on his clothing, which is consistent with the description given," said Javier Salazar with the San Antonio Police Department. "He did struggle somewhat, but they were able to get him fairly quickly."

The suspect is being charged with two counts of murder. Police have not released his name, but said he is 45-years-old and was in the grease collection business with the victim.
