CPS Energy will be testing Phase 2 of its Energy Alerts system from Feb. 21 through Feb. 28.
During those dates, customers experiencing power outages between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. that are expected to last longer than 15 minutes will be contacted by the energy provider to notify them about the outage.
"Whenever a customer is experiencing an outage at their place of business or their home, we will communicate with them via either a text message, email, or pre-recorded voice message to notify them that their address is without service," said John Moreno, spokesman for CPS Energy.
The messages will sometimes include more information than just if the power is out and expected to last more than 15 minutes.
"When available, we will give them the cause and the estimated time of restoration," Moreno said.
A follow up message will also be provided to alert the customer that the power is back on, just in case the customer is not currently at the location of their service.
