GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Country star Glen Campbell's farewell tour has led him to Galveston and a performance of the hit song about longing for the city by the same name.
Campbell sang "Galveston" on Sunday night at the Grand 1984 Opera House. The 76-year-old Campbell has Alzheimer's disease.
The Houston Chronicle reports Campbell referenced both the song and his condition before performing the ballad written by Jimmy Webb. Campbell joked: "What's that song we're gonna play out here?"
Campbell in May appeared on Capitol Hill to urge more federal dollars for Alzheimer's research.
