Car plows into back of 18-wheeler on Loop 1604, stops underneath rig
Driver cut out of car after rear-ending 18-wheeler, condition unknown
A driver was hospitalized after he slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler on the Loop 1604 access road eastbound over Highway 281.
San Antonio police responded to the crash early Wednesday morning. Police said the 18-wheeler was stopped at a red light when a car plowed into the back of the truck's trailer at a speed of 55 miles per hour.
Police said the impact of the crash caused the car to come to a stop partially under the trailer, and the driver had to be cut out of the vehicle.
The driver was taken by AirLife to University Hospital. His condition was unknown Wednesday morning. Police did not say if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
