Carlos Garibay accused of skipping out on $3,700 truck repair bill
San Antonio police: Carlos Garibay, 38, used spare key to get truck off repair lot
Carlos Garibay, 38, faces a charge of theft of service after San Antonio police said he skipped out on a $3,700 repair bill for his pickup.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Garibay took his 2006 Honda pickup in for repairs on Sept. 8, and received notice that the work was complete on Oct. 5.
The affidavit stated that Garibay was not satisfied with the job that had been done, but went in anyway on Oct. 22 to retrieve his truck.
The affidavit stated he could not pay the bill worth more than $3,700 because he did not have a credit card, which is required by the shop.
Police believe Garibay returned the following day and used a spare key to drive his truck off the lot, without paying the bill, the affidavit stated.
Garibay told investigators he had taken his pickup to another shop and paid to have the repair work done again, the affidavit stated. Garibay was arrested Thursday, with bond set at $5,000.
