Child suffers second-degree burns from hot water
A two-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital with second-degree burns on his hand.
Police said it may have been at the hands of his father’s girlfriend.
That woman, 21-year-old Cassandra Crioyos, has been charged with injury to a child.
Her bond is set at $50,000.
According to the arrest affidavit, the child’s father called 911 when he came home around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday to find the toddler crying and peeling skin off of his hand.
The father told detectives he left his son with Crioyos while he went to the store just two blocks away.
When he got home, he heard crying and as he opened the door, the toddler came running out of the bathroom.
The affidavit states that Crioyos said the child burned himself and she left the house yelling that it wasn’t her fault.
EMS at the scene told police the boy’s hands were held under hot water long enough to cause second-degree burns. The peak temperature coming from the faucet was 155 degrees.
Detectives also talked to neighbors who said they could hear the boy crying and heard his father ask Crioyos what she had done to the boy.
