In China -- four brothers are sporting new hair-dos for the first day of school.
Their styles are more functional than fashionable.
CNN's Fionnuala Sweeney explains how the boys' new cuts are helpful in a country where quadruplets are rare.
--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL -- ALWAYS A CHAOTIC TIME FOR PARENTS.
ESPECIALLY FOR THIS MOTHER IN SHENZHEN, CHINA.
TAN CHAOYUN IS MOTHER TO FOUR SIX YEAR OLD BOYS -- IDENTICAL QUADRUPLETS.
SOMETHING ALMOST UNHEARD OF WITH CHINA'S ONE CHILD POLICY.
THE BOYS JUST GOT NEW UNIFORMS AND HAIRCUTS FOR SCHOOL -- BUT TAKE A CLOSER LOOK.
THEY EACH HAVE A NUMBER SHAVED INTO THEIR HEAD.
BY THEIR BIRTH ORDER -- JIANG YUNLONG IS NUMBER ONE.
JIANG YUNXIAO IS TWO. JIANG YUNHAN -- THREE. AND NUMBER FOUR -- JIANG YUNLIN.
THE BOY'S PARENTS SAY EVEN THEY HAVE A HARD TIME TELLING THE QUADRUPLETS APART.
AND TEACHERS WELCOMED THE UNUSUAL HAIRCUTS.
"Since the quadruplets are so similar in their looking, manners, smiles and voice, we cannot differentiate them, so we put them in four different classes after we got their parents' permission."
THE BOYS DON'T SEEM TO MIND THE HAIRCUTS -- AT LEAST FOR NOW.
AND YOU COULD SAY THEY'RE GETTING A REAL HEAD START IN MATH.
