Christus-Santa Rosa to lay off 400 workers

The San Antonio Express-News is reporting that Christus-Santa Rosa Health System has informed the Texas Workforce Commission that it will be laying off 400 employees between July 31 and August 13.

The report says the layoffs are the result of the system's decision to consolidate its City Centre facility with its existing children's hospital to form a stand-alone children's hospital downtown.

During a discussion last month, a Christus spokesperson said the 400 employees at the City Centre will have a number of chances to stay on with the health system.
